Use Social Media To Spread A Positive Message To Your Audience

It’s such a wonderful time to be alive! The age of internet has brought the people of the world together like never before in history. We should be thankful every day that we live in the 21st century. And nothing has been more instrumental in connecting us together than the social media. Facebook alone claimed 2.4 billion active users during the last quarter of 2019. Can you imagine 2.4 billion people in one place? That’s almost the third of the entire population of our planet!

There are so many opinions, arguments and debates about the social media and its role. At the same time there are so many ways it can be used. So many opportunities. Infinite possibilities! To me this is fascinating.

There are many ways to effectively use social media for business purposes.

However, what I want to focus on today is the personality and the attitude we portray on social media. Is it in harmony with our true personality? Is our virtual image the same as the personal image? How can you use this vehicle to make even a small positive impact in the world?

If you want a little test to see where you rank in your social media personality, answer the following questions:

Do your posts include more gratitude or more complaints?

Do your posts generate positive reactions or negative reactions?

Do you get more “likes” or “loves”?

Do you post more personal or more business?

Do you share more positive news or more sensations?

Do you focus more on others or on yourself?

Answering these questions honestly will give you a good feel of how others perceive you on social media.

I am a big believer of spreading positivity in the world and social media is a perfect venue for it. If you’d like to join the crowd of positive thinkers here are 10 tips and tricks for you.

  1. No negative posts. Believe it or not one of the best ways to portray a positive personality is to avoid negative posts, posts that generate feelings of anger, sadness, annoyance. Only share something negative if you are hoping to find the solution to it from your friends, generate compassion or propel a positive action. Otherwise you’re adding another drop of negativity to the world. Isn’t there enough of it already?

  2. Share family pictures/videos. If all your friends are truly people you know in real life they are happy to see you as a family person. Family is the most important thing in the world. That’s a widely accepted fact. It’s no surprise that the family pictures/videos generate the most engagement!

  3. Post accomplishments. Did you or a family member recently win an award or accomplish something you are proud of? Share it away! Your friends are happy to see you or your family member succeed.

  4. Share your travels. We all love and enjoy traveling. Most of us don’t get to do it as often as we would like. Seeing your friend’s pictures and videos from travels generates a desire to take a trip of your own and makes you feel happy for the friend who did it.

  5. Celebrate holidays. Acknowledge the holidays you celebrate on social media. The holidays are something that connect us as a nation and celebrating them publicly awakens the sense of camaraderie and national pride in people.

  6. Share charity events. If you are involved in charity organizations or you volunteer your time in the community service why not let your friends know? No, it’s not for your exposure or bragging. It’s for encouraging others to join you or take up a cause of their own!

  7. Be funny! You probably heard that laughter is the best medicine. That’s so true! If you don’t believe me try the habit of hearty laughing for 5 minutes each morning. Then see how you feel afterwards. But also feel free to share funny videos, jokes, comics etc. that will generate laughter. There is an abundance of those on the internet!

  8. Public acknowledgments of others. These are some of my favorite posts. When people take time to acknowledge their friends it shows their own selflessness and appreciation. Not to mention how special it makes the acknowledged person feel.

  9. Take advantage of positive emojis and feelings. Social media, especially Facebook has made it so easy for your to express how you feel when you post. People love to see their friends experiencing positive feelings because they are contagious. So when posting, why not use the positive feelings such as “feeling thankful”, “feeling blessed”, “feeling excited”, “feeling happy”, “feeling amused”, “feeling grateful”, “feeling accomplished” etc.? There are tons of emojis to accompany these feelings!

  10. Share your love. These are by far my favorite kinds of posts. Share something genuinely heartwarming. Share your love for your significant other. Share your love for your family. Share your love for your friends. Share your love for your country. Share your love for the nature. Share your love for your work if you really love what you do. SHARE YOUR LOVE FOR LIFE! Don’t be afraid. Love is the ever conquering feeling that knows no defeat. Love is what we need more of in our lives. So do yourself and your friends a favor and regularly SHARE YOUR LOVE!!!
